New Teaching Experience in Poland under Erasmus+ Programme
As a part of a fruitful cooperation between the University of Occupational Safety Management in Katowice, Poland and Alfred Nobel University, Dnipro, Ukraine, Valeriia Kalinichenko, the lecturer of the English Philology and Translation Department, came to WSZOP for Staff Training (STA) within Erasmus+ Programme.
I had a chance to spend one week in April at WSZOP to share personal experience in a teaching field as well as to gain new one while working with a group of students. During the Conversation classes we have discussed different issues about travelling and cultural peculiarities of the European countries. What is more interesting it was possible to trace not just peculiar features of the Polish local etiquette and mentality but also to draw some parallels with the Turkish culture thanks to Simge Aysel who came to Poland within Erasmus+ Programme. So, it was great for both parties involved as the students had a deeper insight into social, linguistic and cultural diversity while practicing English language, and I could benefit from teaching the students having different background and educational experience which enabled plunging into the educational system to have a greater understanding of practices and policies abroad.
I am really grateful to Nataliia Zinukova, the head of English Philology and Translation Department, Alfred Nobel University, Dnipro, Ukraine, and Agnieszka Cichy, Erasmus+ Coordinator at the University of Occupational Safety Management in Katowice, Poland, for the opportunity to gain new cultural experience contributing to the professional development as well as to establish new contacts and develop the partnership between our universities.
